By listening to rhymes or songs repeatedly, an infant learns to tune into the regular sounds and rhythms of the language. Babies will soon begin to recognise, their favourite rhymes and songs enjoying knowing what will come next.  When singing to a child, try emphasizing any rhyming words, tapping your feet, or clapping your hands in time to the rhythm of the beat.
