Interview Tip #6: Personality Always Wins

Many parents make the mistake of thinking that qualifications and experience can make up for a personality issue. Do not make this mistake. It is of the utmost importance that the candidate you choose be friendly, cheerful, genuine and sympathetic. While anyone can obtain a qualification or have years of experience, having the right personality cannot be learned or brought. If you really like a candidate and agree that the candidate will stay for a few years, you can even assist them by providing funding for them to pay for their tuition or offering to pay for a course you may want them to do. If you overlook this important factor, you may end up with a candidate that neither you, or your children enjoy being around or a candidate that does not genuinely enjoy their work, which will not be a good influence for your children.
