Interview tips: Age appropriate questions: 0 to 1 years

The following set of questions are great examples you can use to ask if you have children aged between newborn and 1 years of age:
  • How do you handle a crying baby?
  • Would you pick up the baby whenever he/she cries?
  • How do handle a teething baby?
  • What would you do if the baby did not stop crying?
  • What do you see as your primary responsibility to a child this age?
  • What activities would you engage in with a child this age?
  • Have you worked with a child this age before?
  • Explain the process of changing a diaper, is she comfortable with changing diapers?
  • Explain how to sterilize a bottle?
  • Some nannies/ au pairs/ etc experience loneliness dealing with children all day, how would you ensure you remain happy in your job?
  • What would you do if the baby did not stop crying?
  • What are some ways you would get the baby settled and/or sleeping?
  • Are you aware of SIDS and how a child should be placed for sleep
  • Do you think the baby should be held when fed?
  • Where might you take the baby for outdoor time?
  • What are the most dangerous areas of a home for children this age?
  • How does nappy rash happen?
  • How would prepare fruit or meals for a child this age?
  • How do you bath an infant?
